Overview
Columbia Southern University’s Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in curriculum and instruction is tailored for education professionals. The program delivers a forward-thinking, project-based approach for educators, empowering them to drive positive change within professional education environments. Successful graduates of this program emerge prepared to create effective instructional practices, design educational research studies, and propose innovative technology-based curricula. With a foundation of best leadership practices, graduates are prepared to elevate student learning outcomes, conduct impactful research, and lead with innovation at any educational institution. Lastly, the program features an oral presentation as part of each student’s dissertation, providing graduates with an opportunity to position themselves as leaders and innovators in their field.
This program is not designed to meet the educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for employment in an occupation.

Doctoral students are required to complete a dissertation and defend their research before a committee and University representatives, which may take place at a distance through audio/visual means. No degree shall be awarded without majority of committee approval. Information regarding this capstone doctoral requirement is published in the Dissertation Handbook.
Graduates will successfully complete a minimum of 55 credit hours and dissertation research courses as outlined above.
Tuition Rates
Our goal is to provide the strongest online academic programs at an affordable rate. On average, our tuition is less than half the cost of our competitors.

*Rates are per credit hour. Most courses are three (3) credit hours. Tuition and fees are payable in U.S. funds. Tuition rates are subject to change. CSU’s tuition rate for associate, bachelor’s and master’s courses is $250 per credit hour for all active-duty military members using tuition assistance except those who are using a Learning Partner discount.
The lower rate is offered to keep the tuition rate at the DoD cap of $250.
